Most English Language schools in China teach Textbook English, not real English
Most English Language schools in China use outdated, traditional textbooks such as this.
If you want students to learn modern Conversational English, why not use resources such as TV shows, movies, TED Talks and Standup Comedy. These are all more engaging and interesting ways to learn English. Most importantly all these methods will teach you real Conversational English filled with modern Slang and Colloquial English , not boring textbook English.
Most English Language schools in China focus only on English exams
According to the Institute of International Education, 30% of International students who arrive in the US are from China. Most of these students score well in standardized English exams such as TOEFL, GRE and GMAT. However, they can’t speak English fluently and struggle communicating in English.
English Language schools in China should blame for this problem mainly. There are English Language schools in China that just trial students to ace these exams without even properly reading the questions. They just train students to beat the exam, not to be fluent in English. This approach might be good short term but has negative consequences in the long run.
