Online English Tutor Andy

Tell us more about your education?

I have a training/coaching background, I am a certified trainer of trainers. I have gained a diploma in sports and sports injury management, as well as various football/soccer coaching related qualifications.

How would you describe a typical English lesson at Spoken English Practice?

Nice, enjoyable and interesting conversation, with the opportunity to learn.

What are your favorite conversation topics?

Sport, travel, different cultures, different countries, nature, news, all conversation is great!

In your experience, what area in English do students need the most help? Grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation or something else?

Pronunciation is often the area, which students need the most help with. As in many countries the sounds people make to form their words, is different to English.

If needed I break the words down, making them into smaller parts, to make it easier, then help them to build a complete word, with the correct sounds.

What are your top 3 tips to ESL students around the world?

Move your mouth and lips a lot, to get good pronunciation.

Start building your English conversational skills, on the subjects you like to talk about, and are interested in.

Listen for keywords, when in conversation.

A little bit about what you like to do when you are not an online English tutor

I have a wide range of interests; I am currently involved in voluntary work in India, I enjoy sports, I enjoy socializing, travelling to different countries, and meeting the people, and discovering all about the place.

What kind of students do you prefer?

I am happy to have all kinds of students, my work as a support worker and carer, and my life experiences in different places, means it helps me to show empathy and understanding to others, this I believe is important in being able to hold conversations with all types of people, from all types of backgrounds, and relate to those I am talking with.
