How to Speak English Fluently without Advanced Grammar Lessons?

Tired of taking advanced grammar lessons but still not been able to speak English fluently? You are not alone. There are millions of English leaners who have spent hours and hours learning and memorizing English grammar but still can’t speak English fluently.

Firstly, English grammar is so vast and complicated, it is almost impossible to learn all the rules. Secondly, always remember that you don’t need perfect grammar to communicate effectively.  Conversations tend to be informal and most people you chat with might not even notice if you use the wrong verb tense, or make other technical mistakes as long as you speak fluently and confidently.

In this article, we’d like to propose to you a few creative ways to improve your English fluency without wasting time on Advanced grammar lessons.

Stop wasting time with Advanced Grammar Lessons with these 4 powerful ideas!

Surround yourself with the English language

The most effective way to do this is to immerse in English as much as possible. Spend at least 3-4 hours a day watching English media like television, movies, podcasts, or radio. TED Talks are a great way to immerse in the English language. Another great source is You Tube. We have written a number of articles on some creative ways you can immerse in English while having fun. Just a bit of time spent immersing yourself in English each day can make a huge difference in your speaking skills.

Read out loud

Reading out loud helps you practice English pronunciation and develop confidence. Figuring out the sounds of letters and letter combinations while looking at the word will give you the confidence you need to say that word in a conversation. You can start small by reading traffic signs, food packaging and children’s books. Work up to magazines and newspapers. Sing English songs.

Hearing your voice will help you confidence to speaking english fluently, without having to learn advanced grammar lessons.

Learn to use Idioms and Slang used by Native Speakers

Using Idioms and Slang correctly is one of the best ways of making yourself sound like a native english speaker. For example, most native english speakers will use the expression “how’s it going” which is an informal way for saying “How are you”. Another expression commonly used by native speakers is “What’s up?”.

Be careful with expressions listed in textbooks or on the internet as some are not commonly used by native speakers and idioms are constantly evolving over time. Watching current television shows or films with English subtitles will introduce you to those being used at this moment in time.

Join an English Conversation Circle

Advanced Grammar lessons are boring and are not effective if you want to be fluent in speaking. A better use of your time is joining an English Conversation circle. There is nothing more powerful than a group of people truly dedicated to speaking English.

Finding a group of fellow English students to meet regularly and practice English speaking can provide a huge boost to your English learning. You will be able to encourage and correct each other, as well as share in the struggle that comes with learning any new language. The group does not have to be formal: the next time you’re in a public place where people might speak English, take the opportunity to practice your skills.
